Canadians in North West Europe
We are based in The Netherlands and travel through NorthWest Europe to visit former battlefields and important Second World War related spots. It's more than just a hobby, it's a passion.
We are specialized in Canadian Second World War history.
How we can help

Battlefield toursLijstitem 1
We give specialised tours. After starting with a general view of the battles, we like to zoom in on specific stories of soldiers or regiments. It's those stories that count. We often meet relatives who hardly know anything of what their father, uncle or grandfather was during the war. And although we can never bring anyone close to what he went through, we will bring that person as close as you can get to where he was and what he was doing. Walking in his footsteps.

ResearchLijstitem 2
We do a lot of research. It's important to know what official documents state, combine them with old maps and other documented stories. Research is done behind the computer, but it's even more important to stand on the ground and see what they saw. Exploring is what it is.

Then & NowLijstitem 3
One of the most fascinating things to do is to find the location where old photos are taken. It brings back history and makes it alive. Although it's not always easy, and frankly not always possible, we love to figure out where a picture was taken with the use of every information available.

CollectingLijstitem 4
We are collecting Second World War related items. We use it for our so-called Traveling Museum.
When we give lectures or when we guide schools, we bring some of these items to show people. It's important to bring a piece of history to classrooms to bring history as close as possible.

Projects
We help other organisations with projects. We believe in working together. That may sound like a cliche, but within the group of Second World War enthusiasts it's also common that people don't share knowledge or information. It's all about the heritage of the soldiers that fought here, not about the individuals or organisations that follow their footsteps.

Filming, Interviews and Podcast
We make videos of our trips to make short YouTube videos of what we explored. We go to specific places on request or we just explore after we did our own research. We also interview veterans, next of kin or any other with an interesting story. Our next goal is to make podcasts about our jouneys.
